SMART Live More

was watching TV yesterday with my brother when two tv personalities appeared and talked about their family dynamics. turns out they were just promoting a telecommunications network. then my brother said to me, “mag promote na lang gani ngano apilan pa man ug drama ug intriga”. i just laughed and in my mind i was thinking well, that happened to be the dynamics in media. hours later when i was on my way to talisay my brother texted me with, “si anne curtis ng endorse pud ug smart sa the buzz”. i couldn’t helped but smile and felt strange. me and my brother seldom exchange text messages and when we do, it’s just about serious matters. then he would suddenly text me with this kind of message?? it’s really strange… oh well, it did made me smile all the way back home. and BTW we’re both smart user, so maybe their tag line is working on us, “LIVE MORE” :D

Transgendered people are the ones whose sense of gender identity did not match with their physiological sex. Being transgendered is difficult having a homophobic society. They experience discrimination, ridicule and harassment. This is manifested through the pellet gun issue where several guys…

Poverty, action is needed immediately!

nonsensecanbesensible:

4:30 in the afternoon and yes, it’s raining. A cold breeze of air brushed into my skin which was at first relaxing but for a couple of minutes, I have decided to close the windows as the weather gets colder. I took a sip of my coffee and started to complain its bitterness. Well, Obviously, i forgot the sugar. I headed back to the kitchen to get some sugar, and hell yeah, how unlucky I am to find a half full bottle of catsup, soy sauce and vinegar but an empty container for sugar! I was starving and decided to pair up my bitter-tasting cup of coffee with a pandesal. Great idea. I checked our refrigerator to get some pandesal but guess what, another unlucky moment. I found nothing but jars of water. Oh yes, I am experiencing poverty! It may sound exaggerated but somehow, I am dealing in with this situation. Poverty is a lack of possessions (my bread and sugar) as defined by Meriam Webster. Scarceness sometimes can lead to feelings of desperation and impatience which cause others to be involved in crimes. I am experiencing a temporary poverty and I know, sooner or later I can easily buy bread and sugar but I wonder, how about those people who don’t only lack these simple resources? People who can’t even afford to buy meals? People who don’t have shelter? Yes, we wanted to help but to do so, cutting it’s root is what we ought to do.

First thing I want to point out is the unequal distribution of resources. We know for a fact that this has something to do with our history. Spaniards dominated and colonized Philippines and owned a lot of our lands giving less chances to others to own one. The passing over of lands or estates should be minimized to give chance and opportunity to others to cultivate and use land resources. How I wish, there is a system giving each Filipinos to own a land for their living. The rising of unemployment and underemployment rate is another cause why there is an increasing rate of poverty. People earn in jobs but what if, this is taken to them? Where do they get money for living? It is clear to us that the kind of job available greatly helps in uplifting the poor situation of Filipino families. Some workers are not paid fairly and some don’t even get statutory benefits they deserve which infact is mandated by law. The government should provide more jobs for the Filipinos. With more jobs, higher chances of improving the economic status of the country as well as the lowering rate of poverty.

I have mentioned 2 causes why Philippines is  suffering from poverty and each causes involves the help of the government to solve the problem. How about us? Are we part of the helping process? As I sip the last drop of my coffee, I come to realize one thing. I haven’t tasted a sweet coffee I am longing for. I was too lazy to buy sugar from a store nearby. This is like, missing the opportunity to help others because of my insensitivity. Guilty I am, I know maybe too numb to realize the difficult situation of others. I know I could help them in my little ways but I just didn’t because I forgot how brotherhood and sisterhood means. Every little ways can be of a great help and how I wish, we could take some action immediately and let others feel how life can be sweet with our own little help.

As I am writing this next topic, I have come to think over and question myself the essence of going to school. What’s so fun with school? Being locked up whole day in a four-walled room facing terror teachers, or if not terror, BORING teachers, is like allowing yourself to be imprisoned everyday….
